Overview

What is a countdown timer bar?

A countdown timer bar is a strip across your store that counts down to the moment a sale, launch or dispatch cut-off ends, so shoppers can see how long an offer lasts.

Tickly puts that bar at the top or bottom of your store, and adds the same timer to a product, cart or other page. A timer counts down to a date you set, or to a cut-off time on the weekdays you choose, and it runs to the same moment for every shopper.

You choose the products, pages, devices and countries each timer shows on, write the words for each language, and start from one of 8 designs. A setup guide checks that the bar and the timer block are switched on, and Tickly counts views and button clicks for each timer.

  1. A deadline that is real

A date you set or a daily cut-off. There are no per-visitor timers and nothing restarts at zero.

  2. On the pages that matter

A bar across the store, and timers on product, cart and landing pages.

  3. No cap on views

One plan with every feature, and no limit on how many times a timer is shown.

Features

Where a Tickly timer goes and what it counts to

  • Countdown bar

Show a bar across the top or bottom of your store. Keep it in view while shoppers scroll, add a button with a link, and let shoppers close it for the rest of their visit.

  • Product, cart and page timers

Add the Countdown timer block in the theme editor to a product page, the cart page, the home page or a landing page. A cart timer works on the cart page, not in a slide-out cart.

  • Count down to a date

Pick an end date and time in your store’s time zone, and optionally a later start. The timer counts down to that moment for every shopper.

  • Daily cut-off on chosen days

Count down to a time such as 14:00 on the weekdays you pick, for a dispatch cut-off. Show it from a set hour, and bound it with a first and last day. After the cut-off it is gone until the next chosen day.

  • What happens at zero

A date timer can hide itself, or show a message of up to 200 characters for a day and then go away. A timer never starts again by itself. To run it again you set a new end date.

  • Show by product, page, device and country

Choose all products, chosen products, collections or tags. Choose the home page, products, collections, cart or page addresses. Limit by desktop or mobile, and show or hide by country. When two timers fit, the higher priority wins.

  • Your words, in each language

Write the title, subtitle, unit words and button label, then add a version for each store language. A language without text shows the default.

  • 8 designs and your own styling

Start from Clean, Midnight, Sunrise, Mint, Paper, Bold, Outline or Match my theme. Change colors, number style, corner radius, separate desktop and mobile sizes, and which units show. Add custom CSS up to 5,000 characters.

  • Views, clicks and a setup guide

See views and button clicks per timer for 7, 30 or 90 days. A setup guide checks whether the bar and the timer block are switched on in your theme, and links straight to the theme editor.

How it works

How to add a countdown timer bar to Shopify

Three steps. Set the deadline, choose who sees it, then switch it on in your theme.

  1. Step 1 of 3

Create the timer and set its deadline

One click makes a draft that ends a week from today.

    1. Choose Bar, Product page, Cart page or Other page.
    2. Pick “Ends on a date”, or “Ends at a set time on chosen days” for a cut-off.
    3. Set what happens at zero: hide the timer, or show a message.
  2. Step 2 of 3

Choose who sees it and how it looks

Limit the timer, write the words and pick a design.

    1. Pick products, collections, tags, pages, devices and countries.
    2. Write the title, unit words and an optional button, with a version per language.
    3. Choose one of 8 designs, then change colors, sizes and which units show.
  3. Step 3 of 3

Switch it on in your theme

Two theme settings make it live, and the setup guide checks them.

    1. Turn on the Countdown bar app embed from the setup guide.
    2. For a page timer, add the Countdown timer block where you want it.
    3. Turn the timer on, save, and check the timer on your store.

Who it’s for

Who puts a deadline on the page

  • Stores running a sale

Count down to the day a sale or launch ends, then hide the timer.

  • Stores that ship the same day

Show a cut-off such as “order before 14:00” on the weekdays you dispatch.

  • Stores with one hero product

Put a timer on a single product page, a collection or every product with a tag.

  • Stores that sell in many countries

Show a timer in some countries only, in each store language.

FAQ

Countdown timer bar questions

What merchants ask before adding a countdown timer bar and product page timers to Shopify.

A countdown timer bar is a strip across the top or bottom of your store that counts down the days, hours and minutes left until a sale, launch or cut-off. Tickly also adds the same kind of timer to product, cart and other pages.

In Tickly, create a timer and choose Product page. Then add the Countdown timer block to your product template in the theme editor, drag it where you want it and save. The Countdown bar app embed must also be on, because it loads the timer. The setup guide links to both.

No. Every timer counts down to a deadline you set, as a fixed moment in time, so shoppers count down to the same moment. Tickly has no per-visitor timers and no timer that restarts at zero. The clock ticks on the shopper’s device, so a device with a wrong clock will show a wrong time.

Yes. Choose “Ends at a set time on chosen days”, pick the weekdays and a cut-off such as 14:00 in your store’s time zone. The timer shows on each chosen day until the cut-off, is gone afterward, and comes back on the next chosen day. Use it for a real dispatch cut-off.

For a date timer you choose: hide the timer, or show a message of up to 200 characters for one day and then hide it. A recurring timer hides after each cut-off. Neither starts again on its own. To run a date timer again, set a new end date.

Yes. Choose all products, chosen products, collections or tags, then pages, desktop or mobile, and countries to show in or hide in. A country is looked up by the shopper’s browser only when a timer uses a country rule, and a timer with a country rule stays hidden if the lookup fails. If two timers fit the same spot, the higher priority number wins.

You can put one on the cart page by adding the Countdown timer block to the cart template. It does not work in a slide-out cart drawer. Tickly adds nothing to checkout.

Yes. Add a button with a label of up to 40 characters, linking to a page on your store, a full https address, or a discount link such as /discount/SAVE10. It is only a link. Tickly does not create discount codes and adds nothing to the cart.

Yes. Pick one of 8 designs, then change colors, number style (plain, boxes or cards), corner radius, sizes for desktop and mobile, and whether days and seconds show. Write the text for each store language, up to 20 languages per timer, and add custom CSS if you need it.

It counts views and button clicks per timer per day, with no shopper ID or cookie, and sends nothing if the shopper declined analytics in your cookie banner. You can switch the counting off in Settings.

One plan, Standard, at $1.99/month, or $19.99/year (a 16% saving), with every feature included and no view limits. There is no free plan or free trial. Without an active plan, no timer or bar shows on your store.
